The Anatomy Of Really Good Tweets

Twitter TweeterI just stumbled across Twitfave (via Twitter; where else?), and thought it deserved a short post. The site lets you type in your Twitter username to see who ‘favorited’ your tweets.

I discovered that someone favorited an old tweet of mine that I assumed had gone unnoticed—a video of my three nephews describing what Christmas means to them. (Go watch it if you need seven minutes of nauseating cuteness.)

But the best part of Twitfave is reading other people’s favorite tweets. Not only does Twitfave host a really good collection of  one-liners, it’s also a great place to learn about just what makes tweets so brilliant. Many are funny. But some are just gut-wrenchingly honest. Check it out and bookmark it for inspiration when your Twitter stream starts to feel a little stale.

My Personal Favorites

Here are a few of my own favorite tweets. Every time I read them they make me smile.

•   @BrianReich: Looking for an answer to how my son finds so much joy and excitement in his plastic truck, so I can find my own plastic truck.

•   @jkottke: Found in the sidebar of THE_REAL_SHAQ’s Twitter page under Actions: “block THE_REAL_SHAQ.” But that’s not possible!

•   @Pimplepopper: I don’t care if I’m messing up your Facebook page, I NEED TO KNOW WHICH CHARLIE’S ANGEL I AM!

•   @byersremorse: Every time she sneezes I believe it’s love. And oh lord, I’m not ready for this sort of thing.

What are your favorite tweets?
