Public Speaking Tips From the Singers’ Handbook
Many of us had a hobby as a child that we abandoned in adulthood. Mine was singing. I took voice lessons from age 7 to 17, and while I rarely sing in public anymore, those 10 years taught me a lot of tips and techniques I now use in public speaking engagements.
Public speaking, like singing, can be nerve wracking, but it’s a great way to build credibility and market your small business.
In the video above, filmed at F&M Toastmasters, I talk about two techniques for public speaking I learned as a singer. If you’re not into Puccini arias, fast-forward to 1:25 to get to the actual speaking tips.
Thanks to Tom Mahoney for filming this!

Great tips Kelly! I took singing lessons and often forget this when I'm speaking.
Thanks, Justin! I did, too, until I stumbled upon this as a speaking topic. I'm not sure where I got the inspiration from, but writing it reminded me that public speaking and singing have a lot of parallels.
