Inspired Marketing Friday: Feel Your Boobies

Today’s marketing lesson: cute baby + Barry White-style voice over + booby jokes = halarious.
I found this video while researching past marketing efforts for Feel Your Boobies, a charity that encourages young women to perform self breast exams. This user-created video won last year’s “YouBoob” contest, in which Feel Your Boobies encouraged people to shoot their own funny public service announcements.
In addition to the cool video promotion, Feel Your Boobies also deserves marketing kudos for knowing its target audience. According to the Feel Your Boobies website:
Many young women tune out traditional messages about breast cancer because they don’t believe they are at risk or the messages are too clinical. Here at Boobies Central, we know that research shows that simply “feeling your boobies” (aka breast awareness) is just as effective at identifying lumps or other breast changes as the traditional step-by-step process of “breast self-exams.” And that’s exactly why we’re here – to give you a friendly reminder when you least expect it.
Their tongue-in-cheek humor and hip branding cut through the clutter of cause marketing and leaves a lasting impression.

This was adorably hilarious! My daughter’s 10 mos old and a rabid fan of breastfeeding, so boobie jokes and conversations are a household staple here. =) I didn’t know about this contest, but so far, I like what I see. Gonna check out more.
I really respect their aim to cut through the confusion of overly complicated messages. Pretty darn easy to get your message across when you really learn your target audience.
I agree on both points, Delena!
