Did Hipstamatic Rip Off Red Bull’s Facebook Design?

Hipstamatic vs Red Bull

Red Bull’s Facebook page appeared on countless “Best of” lists last year. Advertising experts praised its clever design and clear, to-the-point navigation. I’m not a fan of the brand on Facebook, but I’ve seen the image at least a dozen times.

So when I pulled up the Facebook page for Hipstamatic, an iPhone camera app, I did a double-take. I understand being inspired by successful designs, but this seems like plain old copy-catting.

Red Bull has since retired its Facebook design, but you can see Hipstamatic’s Facebook page here.
