Marketing Podcast, Episode 13: Not Bad Graphic Design

Today’s podcast features an interview with Max Phillips of Not Bad Design. (That’s not a picture of him—he would probably want me to tell you that.) The question at hand: just what constitutes good design, anyway? And why is it so important?
During the interview, Max lists the most common mistakes in web design, and how you can avoid them. We also discuss our hatred of the new Pepsi logo, and why no redesign warrants a 50-page manifesto.
I also introduce Nikki Matarasso as One Woman Marketing’s first regular contributor. A graphic designer and marketing coordinator for Blue Crane Design, Nikki will be writing monthly blog posts on marketing and graphic design.
Marketing Podcast, Episode 11: SEO 101
In this episode, search engine optimizer Ashley Lichty of Lancaster, PA-based internet marketing company ProspectMX explains how women in business can use SEO to reach the top of the search engines.
Ashley and I discuss a number of SEO strategies for women in business such as link building, on-page keyword optimization, article marketing, and whether submitting your site to link directories really works or is just a waste of time.
In the podcast, she lists a number of tools that can help women in business generate keywords and research traffic. They include:
• Google’s Keyword Tool
• SEM Rush
• Compete
• Wordtracker

Marketing Podcast, Episode 10: Marketing With A Message

The 10th episode of the One Woman Marketing podcast features an interview with fashion designer and the creator of UGLY1 Clothing, Michael Tull.
I first heard about Michael’s story while flipping through the business section of my local newspaper. Several listeners have been requesting a show on fashion marketing, so I thought he would make a great guest.

Michael also has the unique distinction of being the first man featured on the podcast, and I’m certain that many listeners will be inspired by his story.
A model and bodybuilder, Michael created his line after a bout of depression that left him questioning the true value of good looks. Today, Ugly1 is more than just a clothing line. It’s a way of life.
In the podcast, he mentions one of my favorite books, Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway by Susan Jeffers. It’s a great resource for business women looking to step outside their comfort zone and start experiencing more success.
Tune in March 15 for an episode with Ashley Lichty on search engine optimization and other internet marketing tips for women in business.
